I have been painting most of my life...over 50 years now. I started out working mainly in watercolor. That evolved into both oil and acrylic painting. I also made etchings for many years.

One of the many techniques in my process enables one to draw with a continuous line much like a ball point pen, in contrast to a brush that needs to be “reloaded”. Enjoying this continuous line I developed a method of mixing acrylic paint with medium to achieve a viscosity that could then be squeezed out of a squeeze bottle. I use plastic bottles like the kind used for Ketchup or Mustard. The resulting lines sit on top of the surface and dry with a texture similar to textiles.

I have always been inspired by nature and organic things. Trees, limbs, leaves and branches hit by light have been a favorite topic. This has also evolved into including man made objects. Buildings and many geometric shapes have now taken over. I am intrigued by playing with positive and negative space, interchanging the function to create an ambiguity. “Is that a telephone pole or is it a space between two building shapes?” Maybe it’s both...or neither.
