Claudia Meyer-Newman

"I seek to make art that captures the spirit of place and celebrates the wonder of the journey. My observations inform my work creating visual metaphors for stories that inspire the imagination and illuminate the moment. My education in design, photography, and teaching has contributed to my personal work and paved the way to focus on my studio life. I work in a variety of always exploring the most effective means to the end."

Migration Series:

The annual migration of the Snow Geese from a small Russian island to Skagit Valley is a breathtaking spectacle that highlights the beauty and resilience of nature. Their seasonal journey is a powerful reminder of survival and the bonds that form within communities. I am inspired to capture the wonder of their voyage. This experience enriches my understanding of the intricate relationships we share with the natural world and the profound connections that exist within it.
