Karen Dedrickson
Crush. Twist. Tear or layer. Painting with paper is a party of experimentation as I explore my feelings for Nature. I’m especially fascinated with how India ink and watercolor plays on its soft surface.
It’s also a balance of brush mastery and serendipity; what happens when I let go of control. How to paint just enough for the viewer to feel the vitality of a seed sprouting or a wild bramble reaching for the sky. My challenge is balancing the obvious with the poetry that Nature reveals.
